Albert E. Johnson, 85, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Edenbrook of Platteville. Services will be held at a later date. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.
Albert was born on June 20, 1939, in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Merton and Margaret (Butts) Johnson. He graduated from Alden-Hebron High School in 1957. Albert joined the military where he worked in communications. During his service in the army he met his wife, Mary Wiederhold. They were married in Fort Gordon, Georgia, on April 26, 1963. Albert went to the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio, and worked for several different companies including Stairs in Galena and Eagles.
Albert enjoyed fishing in his younger years and traveling to the north woods to visit family. He loved going to Edgewater in Florida where they spent many winters. Albert took pride in taking care of his lawn. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Albert is survived by his wife, Mary, Cuba City; his daughters, Patricia (Tom Nyffenegger) Ernst, Darlington, WI, and Theresa Holzer, Lancaster, WI; his sons, Alan Johnson, Campobello, SC, and Brian Johnson, Cedar Park, TX; six grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Sylvester and Loretta Wiederhold; and a brother-in-law, Mike Wiederhold.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Edenbrook, Agrace Hospice, Meriter Hospital and Southwest Health Center Rescue Squad.
