She was born and raised in what she referred to as “God’s Country” Nebraska, the daughter of Victor C. and Lena V. (Streeton) McGaughey. She married Louis M. Conroy on November 19, 1955, in Oconto, Nebraska. Bert was an avid sports fan who was fiercely loyal to her Huskers and Broncos. She took great pleasure playing cards and spending time with those she loved. Bert was an exceptionally hard working woman. She spent 25 plus years working with the elderly as a CNA. After retirement she worked ten years for Walmart in the bakery department. Upon her second retirement in 2013 she relocated to Hazel Green, Wisconsin, to be with her daughter. Those who knew her best would describe her as spunky, competitive, having a witty sense of humor, all wrapped up in a generous spirit and compassionate heart. Fly home my beautiful butterfly!
