Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Al was born on April 6, 1925, near Kieler, the tenth of twelve children of Joe and Rose (Flogel) Droessler. He received his education in the parish grade school and Sacred Heart High School in Dubuque. He married Bernadette "Bernie" Splinter on May 8, 1946, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville, sharing 68 years with her until her passing on July 15, 2014. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Parish, its Holy Name Society, and the golden parish choir of the 50's and 60's. Al learned how to farm and the construction business from his father and brothers. And like them, kept one foot on a farm to raise his family as he worked with them in construction. He then started his business, Al Droessler and Sons Const., developing subdivisions in Kieler, Dickeyville, and East Dubuque along with offering custom design and construction management of residential and commercial properties throughout the tri-state area. For 70 yrs. he entertained as a musician, vocalist, and front man with many popular dance hall bands and club ensembles. Later he entertained regularly at senior care centers until age 88. He was a stealthy hunter and patient fisherman, his family and employees remember their many trips together to northern Wisconsin. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing and gardening with Bernie, cutting firewood, and making music. He will be missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and former employees. Al is survived by his children, Sam (Nancy), Tom (Judy), and Linda (Phil) Schwinn, all of Kieler, Ted, of Potosi, Albie (Patty) of Stoughton, and Angel (Rick) Busch of Gays Mills; 18 grandchildren: 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sister Dorothy, OSF, of Milwaukee; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Droessler, of Louisburg, and Rosie Splinter, of Cuba City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernie; his siblings and in-laws, Harold, Leon (Helena), Ray (Louise), Joe, Virgil “Jim” (Ginny), Gene (Rita), Gerry (Louetta), and Ernie (Beverly); and his sisters Mary and Lola “Babe” (Jamie) Dye. In lieu of flowers an Al Droessler Memorial Fund has been established. A special thanks to the Epione Center nurses and staff for their loving care for our father, Al. They are truly angels of care.
