Alvin was born on August 31, 1921, in Georgetown, Wisconsin, the son of William and Huldah (Heim) Grimm. He worked in the design and engineering department at Flexsteel Industries in Dubuque, retiring after more than 35 years. Alvin married Hazel M. Curtis on August 20, 1942, in Cuba City. He shipped out the day after their wedding to serve in the army for three years during WWII, two years of which were spent in the Aleutian Islands. Alvin was an outdoorsman who liked gardening, bird and squirrel watching, and fishing, especially ice fishing. He enjoyed playing euchre, being with family, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Cuba City; two sons, Gary W. (Dorothea “Dot”) Grimm, of Cedarburg, WI, and Thomas W. Grimm, of Los Angeles, CA; a daughter-in-law, Mary Grimm, of Oconomowoc, WI; two sisters, Zeta Hoppenjan, of Cuba City, and Delores Hoppenjan, of Kenosha, WI; a sister-in-law, Lil Grimm, of Cuba City; four grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Smith, of Palmetto, FL, Rosanna (Ron) Bateman, of Bloomington, IN, Julie (Brian) Till, of Brookfield, WI, and Wayne (Lisa) Grimm, of Portland, OR; and four great-grandchildren, Miranda and Garrick Bateman and Olivia and Josie Grimm. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert; a sister, Ione Mohlmann; three brothers, Marland, Lawrence, and Raymond; three brothers-in-law, Jesse Mohlmann, Myron Hoppenjan, and Paul Hoppenjan; and a sister-in-law, Kay Grimm.
