Cuba City, Wisconsin, Ann M. Bechen, 83, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home before the service. Ann was born on July 29, 1930, in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Irene (Pierret) Kennicker. She married Harold Ernst on June 7, 1949, in Bellevue. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1963. She married Robert "Nubbins" Bechen on October 31, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque. This year they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Ann and her husband, Nubbins, moved from Dubuque to their "Roadrunner Farm" located in Louisburg, Wisconsin, to start farming in the early 1970's. Ann also worked for 31 years at the Dubuque Packing Company. Ann was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her family meant the world to her. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandson. Ann enjoyed embroidery and quilting. She loved her cats, being outside raising chickens, gardening, going on Sunday drives and just plain living on the farm. Survivors include her husband, Robert "Nubbins"; a son, Duane (Betty) Ernst, of Cuba City; three grandchildren, Vicki (Steve) Redfearn, Scott (special friend Shannon Heath) Ernst and Jason Ernst; a great-grandson, Wyatt Redfearn; a brother, Marvin (Mary) Kennicker, of Cuba City; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Robert, Arnold and Paul; and two sisters, Laura, and an infant sister. An Ann M. Bechen Memorial Fund has been established. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center, and friends and family that have helped during this time. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
