Anna Mary Shoemaker, 84, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died at 3:50 a.m. Sunday. July 20, 2014, at home. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City with Pastor Dan Verdegan officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Platteville. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call after 10:30 a.m. at the church before the service. Mary was born on March 26, 1930, in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Anna (Brindle) Shoemaker. She lived and worked on her sister Catherine and husband Paul's family farms in Greencastle, Loyal, Wisconsin, and Platteville. Mary also worked at Thompson's IGA in Cuba City for approximately ten years. Mary was a member of the Cuba City United Methodist Church where she was involved with the Martha Esther Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was past president of the Esther Circle. Survivors include four nephews, John (Elaine) Witmer, of Hustonia, Missouri, Harry (Diane) Witmer, of Spencer, Wisconsin, Paul L. Witmer Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Joseph (Julie) Witmer, of Blue Mounds, Wisconsin; two nieces, Shirley (Gary) Brumbaugh, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and Bonnie (Pete) Flashinski, of Thorp, Wisconsin; nine great-nephews; nine great-nieces; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Shoemaker, of Greencastle; her best friend and companion, Shirley Briel, of Cuba City, and her dogs, Tammy and Minnie. Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Witmer; and two brothers, Ralph and Joe.
