Dickeyville, Wisconsin Anton J. “Tony” Schmitt, 81, of the Sunset Apartments in Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Manor Care Health Services Nursing Home in Platteville. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernard Rott and Msgr. Carl Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Tony was born on July 24, 1929, in St. Lucas, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Anna (Blong) Schmitt. He worked at the Dubuque Pack for 25 years and farmed until 1986. Survivors include his former wife, Felicia Schmitt, of Platteville; two sons, Jeff (Cathy) Schmitt, of Windsor, Wisconsin, and Jody (girlfriend, Lisa) Schmitt, of Platteville; three sisters, Verna (Al) Massman, of New Albin, Iowa, Emily (Cleo) Heying, of Postville, Iowa, and Elaine (Roger) Kleve, of Cresco, Iowa; three brothers, Msgr. Carl Schmitt, of New Hampton, Iowa, Floyd (Deb) Schmitt, of Castalia, Iowa, and Raymond (Nancy) Schmitt, of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister-in-law, Imelda Schmitt, of West Union, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Jamie, Brittany, Sabrina, Trevor and Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna; two brothers, Clem and Henry; and two sisters, Marie Schmitt and Agnes Meyer. In lieu of flowers an Anton J. “Tony” Schmitt Memorial fund has been established.
