Arthur A. "Art" Evans

Arthur A. “Art” Evans, 88, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Church, Cuba City, Wisconsin with Rev. Gregory Ihm and Deacon Bill Bussan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 18 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin and from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.


Art was born on April 13, 1936, in Burbank, Missouri, the son of Hamor and Eva (Eaton) Evans. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Hartwick on February 27, 1957. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2018.


Art worked in mining and construction in his younger years. He then worked as a truck driver for many years in the employment of several companies. During his time with International Transport, Evelyn accompanied him on many trips in which they were able to visit family and see the country. Art was an expert ham radio operator. He was a member of the Hidden Valleys Amateur Radio Club, Great River Amateur Radio Club, Tri-State Computer Group and Military Affiliated Radio System. He was a founding member of the Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network, assisting with disaster relief. Art played in country western, bluegrass and gospel bands around the tri-state area, often traveling to bluegrass festivals where he enjoyed camping. He was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City.


Art is survived by his children, Jean (Kevin) Mulvey, Lucas (Karen Lampe) Evans and Jay (Kim Griffin) Evans; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces.


He was also preceded in death by his son, Howard; his parents; a sister, Thelma Hoggard; and two brothers, Frederick, in infancy, and Donald (Elaine) Evans.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur’s name to the Salvation Army. Memorials may also be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.


The family would like to thank the staffs of Our House Assisted Living and Agrace HospiceCare, both of Baraboo, Wisconsin; and Deacon Bill Bussan for his many visits with Art.
