Barb was born on February 20, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa to Wilbur and Loretta (Long) Hahn. She married Gregory E. Johll on June 9, 1962 in Fort Lewis, Washington. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2013.
Barb lived a life being fulfilled as a servant to others including our late father, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her late mother, her friends, and her in-laws. She regularly took care of others at a cost to herself, but she felt it was a gift to be able to do so. Barb’s caring nature extended to the community through her work as a teaching assistant, knitting hats for babies in the NICU, and volunteering with the Lions and Lioness Club. She was rarely seen; the limelight was not what she sought. Her loving heart and hands were felt and continue to be felt by so many.
Barb loved traveling to see her kids, spending time with family, and cooking and freezing casseroles for upcoming visits. She enjoyed taking care of her chickens, which included gathering eggs with the grandchildren, making her prized black raspberry jelly, canning the garden harvest, participating in the historic cookie baking weekends, riding her John Deere lawn mower, fishing in Alaska and just sitting outside with family after the heat of the day broke.
Barb is survived by her children, Diane (Robert) Frauchiger, of Oregon, WI, Debra (Romas) Sims, of Eagle River, AK, Gregory "Marty" (Brenda) Johll, of Oregon, WI, Michael (Wendy) Johll, of Frankfort, KS, and Matthew (Sally) Johll, of Granville, IL; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth and William Frauchiger, George and Irene Johll, Samantha and Gregory Johll, and Benjamin, Alexander, and Nathan Johll; her siblings, Nancy Moore, of Dubuque, IA, Richard (Carol) Hahn, of Machesney Park, IL, and Robert (Linda) Hahn, of Cuba City; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her parents-in-law, George and Marcella (Brendemuehl) Johll.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Lisa Barroilhet at the UW Oncology Department for guiding our mother through a very courageous battle with ovarian cancer for almost six years.
