Betty J. LaBarbera, 97, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, formerly of West Allis, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. A private graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Brookfield, Wisconsin. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.
Betty was born on January 4, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Stephen and Marvelle (Hoffman) Berke. She graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee. Betty was united in marriage to Joseph LaBarbera on December 2, 1950, at St. Michael’s Church in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2001.
Betty was employed as an administrative assistant at Allis Chalmers, where she met her husband. She then dedicated herself to raising their four children. Betty loved traveling with Joe and spending time at the family cabin at Long Lake, where she enjoyed fishing. Betty lived in their family home for over 70 years. She especially loved socializing with her neighbors and friends, and was known for her wonderful sense of humor. Above all, Betty cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Jill) La Barbera, Eau Claire, WI, Sue (Jerome) Hinderman, Cuba City, WI, Mark (Coni) LaBarbera, Hazel Green, and Joe LaBarbera, St. Augustine, FL; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Joanie Berke and Gloria Berke.
The family would like extend a heartfelt thanks to Pam Ziolecki who watched over Betty, doing whatever was needed. The family would also like to thank Dr. Zachary Droeszler and staff for their care of Betty.
In lieu of flowers, a Betty J. LaBarbera Memorial Fund has been established.
