Cuba City, Wisconsin Burnette V. "Bud" Runde, 91, of rural Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center. Bud was born on January 10, 1922, in rural Cuba City, the son of Clarence "Duffy" and Orpha (Gunderman) Runde. He attended school in Kieler and took over the family farm. In 1946 he married Melaine Loefffelholz and she preceded him in death in 1947. On November 10, 1951, Bud married Martina Legler. They farmed together until their retirement in 1984. He was a farmer, businessman, cattle buyer, husband and father. Bud was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Parish and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #765 for over 60 years, and was honored to become a Fourth Degree Knight with the Fr. Mazzuchelli Assembly 48-1202. Bud also served on the Board of Directors for Clare Bank and was a board member of Jamestown Insurance. He was a believer of fellowship, church and community. Throughout his life, Bud was an avid card player, fisherman and Wisconsin sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family especially his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In their retirement years Bud and Tina enjoyed travel both near and far. He enjoyed dinner out on Wednesdays, poker on Thursdays, and church on Sundays. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Tina; his children, Nancy Wallin, of Altoona, WI, Steve (Diane), of Cuba City, Cathy (Marty) Smith, of Waunakeee, WI, Rod (Stephanie), of Appleton, WI, Mary Jo (Pat) Cunningham, of San Antonio, TX, and Dennis (Kristin), of Bradenton, FL. Bud is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Jane McCartney, of Hazel Green; his brothers, Leland "Buck" (Sally) Runde and Dale "Gus" (Shirley) Runde, both of Kieler; his sister, Rita Hinderman, of Hazel Green; his sister-in-law, Mary Legler, of Hazel Green; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dave; his grandson, Adam Wallin; his great-granddaughter, Gianna Runde; and his sisters, Arlene Burlage and Elizabeth "Betty" Pratt. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Martin and Josephine Legler; and his brothers-in-law, Joe Legler, Bud Burlage, Kenny Pratt and Vince Hinderman. In lieu of flowers, a Burnette Runde Memorial Fund has been established at Clare Bank, 345 W. Pine St., Platteville, WI 53818 to support future seminarians.
