Cuba City, Wisconsin Catherine L. “Kate” Foht Bauer, 92, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Southwest Health Center Hospital in Platteville. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home before the service. Kate was born on May 18, 1918, in Galena, Illinois, the daughter of Theodore and Katherine (Donohue) Engel. She married John Eldon Foht on January 12, 1937, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Galena. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1974. She married Art Bauer on April 21, 1979, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2002. Kate graduated from Galena High School in 1936. She was the activity director at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City, retiring on May 29, 1987. Kate was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a past member of the St. Rose Church Choir. Kate enjoyed playing cards, singing, bird watching, fishing and being with her family. Survivors include six daughters, Mary Kay (David) Hoeper, of Cuba City, Patricia Foht, of Madison, Sharon (Michael) Connolly, of Denver, Colorado, Deborah (Dean) Von Glahn, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ann (Dan) Welter, of Hazel Green, and Jane Pussehl, of Platteville; three sons, Gary (Jane) Foht, of Cuba City, Theodore (Janice) Foht, of Crivitz, Wisconsin, and Frank (Maureen) Foht, of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Paula Foht, of Indiana; two stepdaughters, Darlene (Lawrence) Hofer, of Cuba City, and Helen (Ted) Kearns, of Platteville; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 26 step great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Foht; a grandson, Brett Runde; three brothers, Theodore Engel, Mick Engel and Richard Engel; two sisters, Mary Levins and Florence Meyer; and a step great-granddaughter, Marlene Paul. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Southwest Health Center Nursing Home and staff, Dr. White, and Southwest Health Center of Platteville and staff for the care and compassion given to mom and the family.
