Charlene M. Brandt, 84, of Benton, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Church, Benton, Wisconsin, with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, Wisconsin and from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
Charlene was born on October 8, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of John and Laura (Jecklin) Waller. She was united in marriage to John L. Brandt on August 4, 1973 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2023.
Charlene worked at Swiss Colony, Advance Transformer and provided in-home childcare. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Charlene was President of the Benton VFW Post 7896 Auxiliary. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, and fishing.
Charlene is survived by five children, Susanne Van Vors, Berlin, WI, Ken Van Vors, Janesville, WI, Dale (Kimberly Pahnke) Brandt, Shullsburg, WI, Johnny Brandt, Cuba City, WI, and Laura (Dana Moss-Peterson) Brandt, Bettendorf, IA; a son-in-law, Tony Averkamp. Benton, WI; 22 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two children, Sherry Averkamp and Janice Brandt; a sister, Hulda Waller and a brother, Edwin Waller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charlene’s name may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
The family would like to thank the staff of Willow Valley Assisted Living in Shullsburg, and the staff of St. Dominic Villa for their compassionate care of Charlene.
