Benton, Wisconsin Charles B. "Chuck" Stephens, 83, of Benton, Wisconsin, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites accorded. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church in Benton where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Benton is in charge of arrangements. Chuck was born on April 1, 1930, in New Diggings, Wisconsin, the son of Delbert L. and Catherine V. (Carter) Stephens. He married Barbara A. Holland on July 19, 1958, at St. Mary's Church in Galena, Illinois. Chuck worked at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works for 37 years. Chuck played basketball at New Diggings High School where they were district champions in 1947. He played for the Benton Heavies, a tri-state semi-pro basketball team. During the Korean Conflict he served in the US Army. Chuck enjoyed golfing and the Packer, Badger and White Sox sports teams. He was a charter member of Cole Acres Golf Course and a member of the Benton Volunteer Fire Department and St. Patrick's Church. Chuck was a devoted husband, the best dad in the world, and a wonderful grandfather to his three loved grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Debra Ann Stephens, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Vicki Marie (Rob) Pagnucci, of Waunakee, Wisconsin; a son, David Charles (Jeanice) Stephens, of Aurora, Illinois; a sister, Mary Ann Alderson, of Santa Ana, California; two brothers, Thomas (Lucille) Stephens, of Vista, California, and Steven (Joyce) Stephens, of Goodyear, Arizona; and three grandchildren, Jordan Stephens, Bradley Pagnucci, and Courtney Pagnucci. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Catherine Stephens; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Verne and Aleath Holland; and a brother-in-law, Gene Alderson. A Charles B. "Chuck" Stephens Memorial Fund has been established.
