Charles G. Richardson

February 28, 1934 — November 18, 2011

Hazel Green, Wisconsin Charles G. “Charlie” Richardson, 77, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, joined the choir of angels Friday, November 18, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green with Rev. Lance Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis de Sales Church. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. Charles was born in Hazel Green, the son of Lenas and Emma (Leifker) Richardson. He loved nothing more than family. This was evident in all that he did. He enjoyed family gatherings where he would have a pick up game of softball or a sing-a-long. He also loved fishing trips which all made for fond memories. Charlie married the former Shirley Splinter on April 25, 1959 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green. He retired from John Deere in 1992 as a supervisor. His love of country and service to others was evident throughout his years. He referred to his time spent in the U.S. Air Force as “the best years of my life.” He was a charter member of the Hazel Green Lions Club, a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, a volunteer fireman, and an ambulance driver. He was also a member of the Hazel Green Community Choir, and the St. Francis Choir. He had a “can do” attitude which resulted in “I will do it!” Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley, of Hazel Green; his daughter, Jackie (Troy Brown), Hazel Green; a sister, Dorrene (Ray) Coates, of Eagle River, Alaska; and his faithful companion, Smitty, the kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donald, Frank, and Lenas Jr. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque, Dr. Vandigo, Galena-Stauss Adult Day Care, and Rev. Lance Schneider for all of his visits.
