Cheryl was born on June 16, 1949, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leo and Ann (Harwick) Greene. Cheryl was united in marriage to Ernest “Skip” Schuckert on January 17, 1981, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2015.
Nursing was Cheryl’s passion as she wanted to care for all in need. She attended and graduated from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College earning her LPN in nursing. Cheryl was a huge Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed her visits to Las Vegas with her sister Leanne. She could come up with stories that would make you “laugh until it hurt”. She loved her German Shepherd “Skipper”, hand feeding him and giving him bottled water to drink. When she called out “Momma” he came running to her. Cheryl loved time spent with her Zakkary-he warmed her heart.
She is survived by her children, James Wasmund, Galena, IL, Scot (Kathey) Schuckert, Ames, Iowa, Tami Schuckert, Bellevue, IA and Jason Schuckert, Appleton, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Zakkary Wasmund, Maddison, Jack, and Jake Hiland, Lorna Schuckert and Elizabeth Schmidt; a great-granddaughter, Leah; a brother, Kenneth Olson; two sisters, Nancy (Olson) White and Leanne (Greene) Gaulke; and her precious Millie and Rachel - for all of their love and dedication for her well-being.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jeff Greene; a sister, Sharon (Mike) McGuire; a brother-in-law, Ronald Gaulke; a sister-in-law, Patricia Olson; two nephews, Patrick McGuire and Karl Olson; and a great-niece, Keannah Bates.
Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Prairie Ridge Memory Care for all the hugs and dances with Cheryl, and for their kindness during her care. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jennifer.
In lieu of flowers, a Cheryl Schuckert Memorial fund has been established. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
