Christine was born on July 5, 1949 in Leadmine, Wisconsin, the daughter of John Joe and Ester (Link) Leahy. She married Greg Souza on May 1, 1981, in Scottsdale, Arizona. She had a happy-go-lucky personality and loved to make others laugh. She graduated from high school at St. Clara’s Academy at Sinsinawa Mound. Christine then attended Loop Jr. College in Chicago for art classes. She worked for the telephone company while attending school. Later she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to manage an Audio Graphics System Company. Greg and Christine then moved to South Carolina, where they had two children, Ashley and Lindsay. Finally they settled in Benton to be with John Joe Leahy, Christine’s father. While living in Benton, their third daughter, Katelyn was born. Christine then started an antique business, and enjoyed going to auctions. Christine was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish, a devoted and loving mother, a caring wife, and an extraordinary artist. Some of her favorite memories were visiting grandma Gierene’s farm, going to the House on the Rock with her family, and ice skating in the winter. Survivors include her husband, Greg; three daughters, Ashley and Katelyn, both of Benton, and Lindsay, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; three sisters, Colleen Leahy, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Mary Beth Licocci of Waddel, Arizona, and Sheila Link, of Crestline, California; and a brother, Bill Link, of Phoenix, Arizona. Christine was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, a Christine A. Souza Memorial Fund has been established.
