He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clete enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and winemaking. He enjoyed breakfast at Katina's and beers at Gooch's. Clete was known for this saying, "Let a smile be your umbrella on a rainy, rainy day." Clete belonged to the Holy Name Society, Catholic Knights and the Dickeyville Fire Department, of which he was a charter member. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann (Floyd) Timmerman, of Louisburg, and Kay (Steve) Peterson, of Platteville; a son, Jerry (Fran) Simon, of Louisburg; seven grandchildren, Carrie Lory, Holly Splinter, Kelly Kunkel, Brooke Tigges, Chad Simon, Joseph Peterson and Justin Peterson; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gertrude; two brothers, Laverne and Francis; and two sisters, Margaret and Marie. We can see dad knocking on the front doors of heaven saying to his wife, Eileen, "Hi honey, I'm home." A Cletus C. "Clete" Simon Memorial Fund has been established.
