Darlene E. Kunkel

Kieler, Wisconsin Darlene E. Kunkel, 79, of Kieler, Wisconsin, died Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center where the parish rosary will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the parish center before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Darlene was born on January 1, 1937, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur F. and Bertha E. (Fure) Brandt. She married Ralph F. Kunkel on October 30, 1956. Darlene was a perfectionist which came out in the best way, raising her family and organizing her household. Her artistic talents were demonstrated through the countless Christmas figurines and ornaments she hand painted and customized. Darlene was also a master of the organ, especially this time of the year when she would nightly play Christmas songs to entertain her husband. Survivors include her husband Ralph; a daughter, Vicki Kunkel, of Aurora, Illinois; a son, Terry (Kris) Kunkel, of Warner Robins, Georgia; her sisters, Rita (Robert) Hartung, of Salida, Colorado, and Pat (Tom) Mitchley, of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Kim and Monique; and great-grandchildren, Kali, Emma, Nicoles, Kyley, Michael, James, and Amelia Rose. She was preceded in death by twin infant children in gestation; her parents; and two sisters, Marilyn Robbins and Bernadine M. Ackley. A Darlene E. Kunkel Memorial Fund has been established.
