Darlene M. "Twig" Klaas, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Private graveside services will be held at St. Rose Cemetery in Cuba City, Wisconsin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011. Survivors include six sisters, Gladys Klaas and Mary White both of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Bud) Loeffelholz of Platteville, Wisconsin, Grace Brummer, Merrrill (Jim) Banfield and Tracy (Dan) Mootz all of Cuba City, Wisconsin; two brothers, Frank (Mary) Klaas of Holmen, Wisconsin, and Richard (Bev) Klaas of Cuba City, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Joan Klaas, of Cuba City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marlene, a brother, John; and a brother-in-law, Jim White. Twig was born on March 10, 1947 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edward and Viola Gubbles Klaas. She worked at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there after more than 34 years of service. Darlene volunteereed for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed music and the time she spent with her beloved family and many friends. Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or the University of Iowa Hospital for kids with cancer.
