David D. Driscoll

June 27, 1947 — February 28, 2025

Benton, Wisconsin

David Dean Driscoll, 77, of Benton, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. He spent his final days at Finley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Many stories were shared, some with tears and some with laughter, but all were proof of a life well-lived. To honor Dave’s life, a visitation will be held for family and friends from 9-11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Community Evangelical Free Church in Platteville, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. officiated by Pastor Fred Perkins. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, Wisconsin, is assisting the family.

Dave was born on June 27, 1947, the son of LaVerne and Amy (Hall) Driscoll, and younger brother of Lee. He attended school in Benton where he excelled in athletics and was a proud graduate of the class of 1965. Following graduation he attended UW-Platteville for a short while and then attended Madison Vocational School where he received an Associate Degree in Quantity Food Preparation and Service. He then worked as a cook at Mendota Mental Health Institute until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in December 1968. He served in Fort Hood, Texas as a cook until he was honorably discharged. After returning home Dave worked at Kelly Springfield in Freeport, Illinois until he was hired at John Deere in Dubuque where he worked for thirty and a half years, retiring on May 31, 2002.

On July 28, 1972, Dave married Sharon Perkins at the Benton Primitive Methodist church. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage and were blessed with two sons and seven grandchildren. Dave loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping up north with the family, looking for morels, and rabbit and turkey hunting. He liked to go fishing, and it was always a special day when his sons and grandson could go with him. He was seldom seen without his camera and left us with beautiful pictures of the world around us and an abundance of family memories in photos. He enjoyed the simple things in life like a pretty sunrise, visiting in the backyard with the neighbors, or sitting in his rocking chair on the porch watching the hummingbirds at the feeder and admiring his flowers. The highlight of his life was when he became known as “Bumpa”. He adored his grandchildren and was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Dave loved the Lord, his wife, and his family and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon; his two sons, Mark (Shannon) of Scales Mound, IL, and Jeff (Courtney Simon) of Dubuque, IA; and his seven grandchildren, Sydney, Jonah, Quinn, Macy, Ella, Emery, and Drew. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Pam Driscoll and Kay Daugherty; and his brothers-in-law, Tom (Linda) Perkins and Fred (Deb) Perkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lee; his parents-in-law, Clarence and Elva Jane Perkins; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Daugherty.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff on the 5th floor and the ICU at Finley for their compassionate care of Dave and our family during his last moments with us. Your kindness and gentleness helped to bring a little peace into our hearts and minds during a very difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Benton Community Fund. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
