David L. Wilberding

Mount Horeb, Wisconsin David L. Wilberding, 75, of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, formerly of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died peacefully Monday, January 12, 2015, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison with his wife at his side. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home before the service. Dave was born on March 9, 1939, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Carl L. and Nuala (Byrne) Wilberding. He married Shirley A. Brunskill on October 31, 1959, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City, and celebrated 55 years of marriage. He adored his loving wife, Shirley. Working at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works for 39 years and on his farm were a big part of Dave's life. He loved his John Deere tractors and old cars, especially his white 77 Corvette. Dave loved to tinker and was the master of fixing anything. He enjoyed celebrating all family events and being with his children and grandchildren. Dave also enjoyed music, especially country, the Packers, Badgers and Nascar, and was a huge Matt Kenseth fan. Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Mount Horeb; four daughters, Debra (Dean) Smith, of Stoughton, WI, Sheila Yunker, of Verona, WI, Karla (Jeff) Garsky, of Johnson Creek, WI, and Michelle (Joseph IV) Koberstein, of Verona, WI; a son, Ron (Becky) Wilberding, of Jesup, IA; two sisters, June (Mike) Schmitz, of Rochester, MN, and Jane Ann Gundlach, of Portage, WI; two brothers, Byrne "Bing" (Pat) Wilberding, of Cuba City, and Jerome "Dude" (Karen) Wilberding, of Sparta, WI; and ten grandchildren, Justina, Kevin, Lacey, Kylie, Hunter, Hailey, Reed, Joey, Dakota and Payton. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Yunker, and a brother, Kenneth Wilberding. A David L. Wilberding Memorial Fund has been established.
