David Lee Ring

Hazel Green, Wisconsin David L. "Dave" Ring, 68, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, lost his five month battle to brain cancer on Friday, March 20, 2015, at home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Benton with Pastor Dan Verdegan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Benton. Friends may also call from 1-1:45 p.m. Monday at the church before the service. Dave was born on July 13, 1946, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the son of Donald and Pearl E. (Thompson) Ring. He married Martha J. Hillary on October 22, 1976. He served in the Army in Germany from 1964-1967. Dave worked at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works for 36 years. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, UAW and the Benton VFW. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, every one of his hunting and fishing buddies, and the trips they took to Canada. Dave loved his family, friends, nieces and nephews, and taking them fishing and hunting. Stock cars were a big part of Dave's life and he enjoyed taking his 66 Chevelle to a lot of car shows. Survivors include his wife, Martha; two daughters, Sheila (Matt) Stephens, of Platteville, and Kayla (fiancee, Nevada Marty) Ring, of Hazel Green, his father and mother-in-law, Wayne and "Smokey" Leona Hillary, of Hazel Green; a sister, Bonnie Pfieffer, of Janesville, WI; two brothers, Tom (Betty) Ring, of Orfordville, WI, and Frank (Dr. Karen) Thorpe, of Clinton, WI; and a special friend and neighbor Harold Lindeman. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kevin Thorpe; and a sister, Connie Thorpe. A David L. "Dave" Ring Memorial Fund has been established.
