Hazel Green, Wisconsin Dennis M. Berning, 53, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, died Sunday, January 10, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a sudden illness. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the parish center before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Dennis was born on May 5, 1962, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the son of Louis and Rita (Hilby) Berning. He married Kathy A. Vosberg on August 6, 1988, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler. Dennis worked at Eagle Window in Dubuque. Dennis had two loves in his life. First and foremost was his family and second was the great outdoors. Dennis was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and frying fish, and trap shooting. Dennis gave his time generously by giving children the full experience in hunting and fishing, and by coaching youth sports. He was always there to help out when needed, had a great sense of humor and knew how to have fun. Dennis was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and the Potosi Sportsman Club. Survivors include his wife, Kathy, of Hazel Green; a daughter, Kelly Berning, at home; a son, Matt "Fish" (special friend, Jenna Schneider) Berning, of Hazel Green; his parents, Louis and Rita Berning, of Hazel Green; four sisters, Barb (Terry) Temperly, of Platteville, Karen (Mick) Schultz, of Palo, Iowa; Sharon (Dale) Kaiser, of Cuba City, and JoAnn (Jay) Roussel, of Durango, Iowa; his father and mother-in-law, Francis "Franny" and Heidi Vosberg, of Cuba City; his brothers and sisters-in-law, David Vosberg, Dale (Sharon) Vosberg, and Julie (Steve) Thomas, all of Cuba City, and Vicki (Kevin) Gehl, of Cascade, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews . A Dennis M. Berning Memorial Fund has been established.
