Dolores A. Pickel

July 9, 1935 — April 13, 2016

Dolores A. Pickel, 80, of Kieler, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center before the service. Dolores was born on July 9, 1935, in Tennyson, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Stuer) Schaefer. She married Orville J. Pickel on July 2, 1955. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1997. Dolores was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores enjoyed reading and playing cards and other games. She loved her collection of angels. Dolores had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Survivors include six daughters, Linda (Tom "TJ") Schissel, of Dubuque, Sandy (Tom) Hull, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Patsy (Clint) Freiburger, of Cuba City, Jeannie (Roger) Arnesen, of Mukwonago, Janet (Scott) Faber, of Edgar, and Connie (Tim) Weber, of Plattevile; two sons, Orville Jr. Pickel, of Platteville, and John (Kelly) Pickel, of Delavan; a brother, Homer (Celine) Schaefer, of Fennimore; two sisters, Margaret Dalsing, of Dubuque, and Genevieve Biba, of Kenosha; three sisters-in-law, Rita Schaefer and Bernadine Schaefer, both of Platteville, and Lavon (Ron) Heinricy, of Kieler; two brothers-in-law, Kenny (Berneice) Pickel and Pete (Arlene) Pickel, both of Kieler; 22 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren with two on the way. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jerome & Elmer Schaefer; a sister, Hildegard Hinderman; her father and mother-in-law, George and Marcella Pickel; four brothers-in-law, Linus Dalsing, Edward Hinderman, Vandy Biba and Paul Schroeder; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Schroeder. A Dolores A. Pickel Memorial Fund has been established. A special thank you to the Park Place Staff and the doctors and staff at Southwest Health Center for all their love, support and wonderful care.
