Leadmine, Wisconsin Doris L. “PeeWee” (Peasley) Sheffer, 85, of Leadmine, Wisconsin, formerly of Sauk City and Benton, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Shullsburg Assisted Living. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Benton with Bob Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Leadmine Primitive Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Doris, the daughter of Robert and Lucretia (Topliss) Peasley, was born on May 4, 1928, in Leadmine, Wisconsin. She married Donald Sheffer in 1948, had three children, and divorced in 1968. Doris was employed by the Savanna Ordnance Depot in Savanna, IL. She later worked for the United States Arms Forces Institute in Madison and eventually retired from the Army Corps of Engineers at Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Baraboo, WI. She enjoyed the outdoors, walking by the Wisconsin River, and picking up morels and black walnuts. She had a great sense of humor and loved to shop. Surviving are her children, Terry (Dixie) Sheffer, of Benton, WI, Jacquelyn (Jon) French, of Lake Summerset, Davis, IL, and Lance Sheffer, of Cambria, WI; five grandchildren, T.J. Sheffer, of Cuba City, WI, Joel (Julie) French, of Sycamore, IL, Jamie (Julia) French, of Machesney Park, IL, Julianna (Darren) Meier, of Durand, IL, and Bradley Sheffer, of DeForest, WI; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Sydney Sheffer, Reese French, and Weston Meier. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clifford, Max and Donald Peasley; three sisters, Mary Peasley, Fern Sweeney and Millicent Jeness; and two brothers-in-law, Phillip Sweeney and Clemont Jeness.
