Dorothy M. Wagner Splinter, 79, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died Friday, October 8, 2010, at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home before the service. Dorothy was born on May 8, 1931, in Menominee, Illinois, the daughter of Urban and Rose (Freese) Tranel. She married George Wagner on November 14, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1974. She married Ira Splinter on May 9, 1980. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1989. Dorothy worked in housekeeping at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque for 15 years. Dorothy was a member of the Holy Ghost Choir for 12 years and of the Holy Ghost Council of Catholic Women. Along with Betty Leibfried, she was one of the founders of the garage sale at Holy Ghost Church. Survivors include four children, Bernadette (Alan) Emler, of Potosi, Diane (Robert) Berntgen, of Cassville, Steven “Porter” (Christine) Wagner, of Dickeyville, and Brenda (Kenneth) Scheid, of Gilmer, Texas; her stepchildren, Diane Fasselius, of Peosta, Iowa, Clifford (Jan) Splinter and Charles (Doris) Splinter, both of East Dubuque, Illinois, and Robert (fiance, Jean McDonald) Splinter, of Dubuque; a brother, Raphael (Germaine) Tranel, of Dickeyville; twelve grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, James Splinter; a stepson-in-law, John Fasselius; and a stepdaughter-in-law, Chris Splinter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dorothy M. Wagner Splinter Memorial Fund. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the entire staff of Southwest Nursing Home, to Drs. Schultz, Janes, and Ramabadran , the staff of 3 West at Mercy and the staff of Wendt Cancer Center.
