Edmund Emmet Holland

December 11, 1920 — April 29, 2010

Edmund E. Holland, 89, formerly of 2120 Oak St. in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Manor Care in Platteville. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2010, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green, with Rev. Francis Steffen and Rev. Donald Lange officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church before the service. Edmund was born on December 11, 1920, in Scales Mound, Illinois, the son of Benjiman F. and Anna (Powers) Holland. He married Dorothy Hartung on November 21, 1942, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2006. Edmund worked at Eagle Pitcher Mines in Shullsburg and Galena for many years and later retired from John Deere. He especially enjoyed fishing trips to northern Wisconsin. Survivors include six children, Larry (Kathy) Holland, of Galena, Karen (Mike) Heinen, of East Dubuque, David (Cathy) Holland, of Kieler, Dale (Kim) Holland, of Huntington Beach, California, Theresa Holland, of Dubuque, and Lisa (Dan) Droeszler, of Kieler; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Delores “Dolly” Holland and Marcella Hartung, both of Galena, Mary (Irvin) Koos, of LaMotte, Iowa, and Rose Hartung, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Dora (Weber) Hartung; a brother, LaVerne Holland; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leola (Clem) Bussan, Brother Martin (Lloyd) Hartung, Lydia Muller, Gilbert (Mary Agnes) Muller, Joseph Hartung, Margaret (Frank) Heilman, Leonard “Junior” Hartung and Fabian Hartung. The family wishes to give special thanks to the neighbors, doctors and nurses at Manor Care, and all those who helped Ed and Dorothy during their later years.
