Eileen G. Placke, 93, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2024, at Holy Ghost Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin, where there will be a Parish Rosary Service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service.
Eileen was born on August 26, 1931, in Paris Township, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Kirchberg) Lange. She was united in marriage to Vernon Placke on October 24, 1950, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2014.
Eileen was a devoted mother and grandmother. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy. She was known for her world famous chocolate chip cookies. Eileen was a fan of baseball, especially the Braves and Brewers. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and dancing. Eileen’s faith was very important to her. She was a longtime member of both Holy Ghost and St. Joseph’s Parishes, was an officer in the Christian Mothers Society, and volunteered at the church summer garage sale for many years.
Eileen is survived by her children, David (Sue) Placke, Hazel Green, WI, Patricia (Ron) Rupp, Mesa, AZ, Mary Kay Daniel, Madison, WI, Joseph (Rita) Placke, Cuba City, WI, Kenneth (Mary) Placke, Hazel Green, WI, Alan Placke, Cuba City, WI, and Lori (Randy) Wirth, Eau Claire, WI; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Eileen was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Melvina (Francis) Budden and Lucille (Jerry) Kaiser; and three sisters-in-law, Rosaline Edwards, Doris (Merlyn) Wolter and Marie (Kenny) Kunkel.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey White and his staff; Agrace Hospice, especially Olivia and Heather; and Fr. Bernard Rott for all of the care given to Eileen. Thank you to Jeff Martin and Officer Dave Reuter for the much appreciated help over the past years. A special thank you is extended to her daughter, Mary Kay, for the selfless care given to Eileen these past several years.
In lieu of flowers, an Eileen G. Placke Memorial Fund has been established.
