New Diggings, Wisconsin Eleanor R. Alderson, 103, of New Diggings, Wisconsin, died Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be at 12:00 noon Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the Primitive Methodist Church in New Diggings with Rev. Bill Vasey officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Benton is in charge of arrangements. Eleanor was born on July 6, 1914, in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Rebecca (LeVitte) Robbins. She married James Alderson on June 30, 1939, in Park Falls, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1993. Eleanor was a teacher at Racetrack School in New Diggings and at the Galena Elementary School. Eleanor and Jim enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and retired to the south every winter. Survivors include her daughter, Lois Bastian, of Benton; her son, Jon "Lee" Alderson, of Benton; six grandchildren, James and Ken Alderson, Pam Tranel, and Rusty, Brad and Todd Bastian; a sister-in-law, Lois Robbins, of New Diggings; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jane Alderson; a son-in-law, Dick Bastian; a sister Audrey Robbins; three brothers, Francis, William and John Robbins; and two sisters-in-law, Catherine and Anna Robbins. An Eleanor R. Alderson Memorial Fund has been established.
