Emil E. Miesen, 90, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Platteville. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 1:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Emil was born on April 3, 1919, in Oakfield, Wisconsin, the son of Louis J. and Anna M. (Bord) Miesen. He married Loretta C. Reuter on January 14, 1941. They were married 68 years. Farming was his livelihood and his life. Emil loved to travel. He liked music, especially dancing, singing and whistling. Emil enjoyed his family especially teasing his grandchildren. Emil was a member of Holy Ghost Parish since 1941, the Catholic Order of Foresters Court #876 since 1936, the Farm Bureau and AMPI. Survivors include his wife, Loretta, of Platteville; three daughters, Marietta (Jerry) Pitzen, of Cuba City, Charlotte (Jim) Kowalski, of Dickeyville, and Catherine (Richard) Wagner, of Cuba City; three sons, Francis (Dorothy) Miesen, of Potosi, Larry (Ann) Miesen, of Cuba City, and Maynard (Rita) Miesen, of Platteville; a brother, Harold Miesen, of Dubuque, 23 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna Miesen, and two sisters, Bertha Loeffelholz and Irene Digman. In lieu of flowers, an Emil E. Miesen Memorial Fund has been established. The family would like to thank Emil’s caregivers at Manor Care.
