Dickeyville, Wisconsin Eugene C. “Gene” Schroeder, 73, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died Saturday, August 6, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. The Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed at the church at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the rosary will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home before the service. Gene was born on January 21, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Ervin and Pauline (Droessler) Schroeder. He married Delia Lange on September 1, 1962. Gene was an avid bowler and golfer who enjoyed traveling to the National and State Bowling Tournaments yearly, as well as going to baseball and football games. He was a kind and generous soul who devoted his life to his family, friends and church. Being the oldest sibling of 12, Gene was accustomed to offering a helping hand to anyone in need, and did so frequently without a second thought. He spent the last 30 years operating and managing his bowling alley, Sunset Lanes and Hall. Although he retired two years ago, he still continued to be active in helping his son, Jonathan, to manage the family business. He is survived by his wife, Delia; his children, Jackie (John) Mohapp, of Cary, Illinois, Eugene (Julie) Schroeder, of Verona, Jason (Meaghan) Schroeder, of Roswell, Georgia, and Jonathan (fiancée, Katie Hinderman) Schroeder, of Kieler; seven sisters, Sister Deanna Schroeder, of Milwaukee, Jeri (Mike) Lyons, of Cuba City, Mary (Tom) Kaiser, of Dubuque, Susan (Don) Barth, of Cuba City, Ruth (Tom) Kieler and Rose (Doug) Rouse, both of Platteville, and Shirley (Lee) Millman, of Potosi; three brothers, Steve (Mara) Schroeder, of Dickeyville, Tom (friend, Gail Fritschler) Schroeder, of Cadott, and Joseph (Marsha) Schroeder, of Cuba City; a sister-in-law, Michelle Schroeder, of Cuba City; and seven grandchildren, Nikki, Kelsey, Matt, Wil, Owen, Lauren and Allison He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin; his mother, Pauline; his sister, Judy; a brother-in-law, Walter; and a nephew, Jeff Kaiser. In lieu of flowers, donations will be given to Gene’s favorite charities.
