Eugene F. “Coon” Ginter, 92, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Holy Ghost Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin, where there will be a Parish Scripture Wake Service at 3:45 p.m.


Eugene was born on December 31, 1931, in Dickeyville, Wisconsin to George and Francis (Schardt) Ginter. He married Mary D. Sadler on May 7, 1960, at Sacred Heart Church, Fillmore, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2021.


Eugene was a dedicated farmer. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing euchre and solo, and fishing. Eugene loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, and was thrilled to watch the Cubs win the World Series.


Eugene is survived by six children, Jean Ginter, Dickeyville, Lori (Gary) Hilby, East Dubuque, IL, Dan Ginter, Fort Worth, TX, Joni (Chuck) Hoppman, East Dubuque, IL, David (Jenni) Ginter, Kieler, WI, and Dale (Amy) Ginter, Dickeyville; a sister, Rose Ann (Joe) Vosberg, Kieler, WI; a brother-in-law, Gene Vaassen, Dubuque, IA; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren with two on the way.


He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Rita (Joe) Kaiser, Lucille “Lou” (Larry) Portzen and Mary Jane Vaassen; and a brother, Norbert Ginter, in infancy.


The family would like to thank the staff of Edenbrook in Platteville for their care of Eugene.
