Cuba City, Wisconsin Eugene F. "Gene" Runde, 81, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Monday, February 8, 2016, at UW-Hospitals & Clinics in Madison. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at St. Joseph's Church in Sinsinawa with Rev. Kenneth Frisch and Rev. Bart Timmerman officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church before the service. Gene was born on June 10, 1934, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the son of Martin and Mary (Cullen) Runde. He married Shirley M. Timmerman on June 10, 1958, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville. Gene spent his life as a dedicated dairy farmer. He loved family, farming, friends and fun. He was happiest when he was dancing with Shirl, the love of his life. They danced through 57 years together. He proudly served in the US Navy on the Battleship USS Wisconsin. He served on the Southwestern Community School Board and was a founding member of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. He was a proud member of the NFO. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; five daughters, Judy (Marcus) Dacanay, of Hawaii, Laurie (Doug) Genthe, of Black Earth, Lisa (Jeff) Jacoby, of Janesville, Jane (Dean) Epping, of Mt. Horeb, and Cheryl (Chris) Rieken, of Hazel Green; two sons, Gene (Mary Jo) Runde, and Tom (Kristi) Runde, both of Cuba City; a sister, Mertyl (John) Blankenheim, of Madison; a brother, Emmett "Smokey" (Doris) Runde, of Galena, IL; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Adele and John Budden; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Roseanne (Budden) Runde; a brother, Fr. Raymond Runde; a grandson, Adam Runde; and a sister-in-law, Doris Leibfried Runde. A Eugene F. "Gene" Runde Memorial Fund has been established.
