Everett R, Vickerman

May 9, 1926 — January 4, 2009

Everett was born on May 9, 1926, in Lafayette County, Elk Grove Township, on a farm that is now called Platteville University Farms, the son of Oliver W. and Lida (Pedley) Vickerman. He went to the Ipswitch Grade School, and graduated from the Platteville High School in 1944. He married Vivian Raisbeck in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1986. Everett went to serve his country in the army in the summer of 1944. In 1945 he went overseas to the Philippines, and then on to Japan. He served with the 25th Division, 8th Field Artillery, and then was assigned as a military policeman. Everett was a member of the Benton American Legion Post #290. He was also a member of the Benton Bible Church. He worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for over twenty three years, and was a member of the Butcher Workmen Union 150. Everett enjoyed gardening and very much loved his children and grandchildren. He lived in Benton for more than fifty three years. Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Stan) Burris, of Shullsburg, and Sandra Harker, of Benton; two sons, Ronald E. (Nancy) Vickerman, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Robert R. (Karry) Vickerman, of Pikeville Tennessee; a sister, La Verl Jewett, of Lehigh Acres, Florida; a brother, Joe (Kathy) Vickerman, of Beloit, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren with another on the way; and six step-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth, in infancy; a brother, Oliver Junior, in 1998; three sisters, Geraldine Bendorf, in 2004, Virginia Stenulson, in 2007, and Joyce Bruggger, in 2007; and a son-in-law, Mark Harker, in 2006.
