Cuba City, Wisconsin Florence F. “Florny” Segerstrom, 81, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison after a short illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the Catholic Daughters rosary will be at 1:40 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9-10:15 a.m. Monday at the church before the service. Florny was born on December 13, 1932, in Elk Grove, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles M. and Carrie M. (Burke) Hoppenjan. She married Harry J. Segerstrom on June 19, 1951, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Elk Grove. Florny worked as a waitress at several establishments in the area. Most notably she also co-owned the Corner Bar with her sister in Cuba City for nearly a decade. Florny was an avid sport’s fan following Cuba City sports all her life. She also watched Badger basketball and football games and the Packers on TV. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Red Hat Ladies. She delivered meals on wheels and volunteered at Sinsinawa Mound. Florny is survived by her daughter, Joyce Wedig, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and her children Matthew Wedig and Melissa (Tom) Galbo; her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Teresa Segerstrom, of Wauwatosa, and their children Lydia (Matt) Mattingly, Sean, Chris, Austin and Dylan, and Jeff and Traci Segerstrom, of Dubuque, and their children, Allison and Leah; and her great-grandchildren, Brooke Wedig and Haley Galbo. She is also survived by her brothers, Charlie Hoppenjan, of Cuba City, and Bob (Renee) Hoppenjan, of Bellevue, Iowa; her sisters, Marie Riechers, Millie (Dick) Sorensen and Jean (Terry) Cleary, all of Madison; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Hoppenjan, of Platteville, and Essie Kittoe, of Bagley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her son-in-law, Mark Wedig; her parents, Charles and Carrie Hoppenjan; her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Jerome Simon; her brothers, Harry and Dick Hoppenjan; and an infant sister, Joyce Hoppenjan. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Harry G. and Ida (Wick) Segerstrom; her sisters-in-law, Esther Hoppenjan and Bernice Segerstrom Sauer; and her brothers-in-law, Glen, Delmar and Clyde Segerstrom. A Florence F. “Florny” Segerstrom Memorial Fund has been established.
