Frankie was born on July 28, 1938, in Benton Township, Wisconsin, the son of Oscar and Alinda (Busch) Brandt. He graduated from Cuba City High School in 1956 and began farming on a new farm next to his dad’s. Frankie was united in marriage to Mary Jane Hoeper on August 18, 1959, at St. Peter’s Church in Elk Grove.
He farmed his entire life. Frankie’s joy was spending time with his family, especially teaching his grandchildren about the farm and his love for Allis-Chalmers tractors. Frankie was an extraordinary self-made musician, at a young age playing with his uncle’s band, the Jack Busch Orchestra, and later starting his own band, the Frankie Brandt Big Band, with his family. He also served as the township treasurer and was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Church.
Frankie is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Brandt, Cuba City; four children, Roger (Nancy) Brandt, Verona, WI, Gary Brandt, Darlington, WI, Donna (Mark) Brokowski, Evanston, IL, and Ken Brandt, Cuba City; ten grandchildren, April (Tucker) Richardson, Alix Brandt, A.J. Brandt, Katie Goldberg, Beth Goldberg, Steven (Greta) Brandt, David Brandt, Sydney Brandt, Brandon Brokowski and Kenna Brokowski; three siblings, RoseMary (Keith) Wedige, Chris (Phyllis) Brandt and Bernard (Jane Alice) Brandt; and a sister-in-law, Charlene Brandt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Alan Brandt and Joan (Jim) Goldberg; a brother, John Brandt; and a sister-in-law, Lydia Brandt.
The family wishes to thank Christy Willis and the staff of Medical Associates, the doctors and staff of MercyOne Dubuque, and the Benton and Hazel Green First Responders.
