George W. Gunter

Potosi, Wisconsin George Wayne Gunter, 80, of Potosi, Wisconsin, passed peacefully from this life and entered into eternal rest with his Lord Tuesday, March 22, 2016, while at home with his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the Church of Christ in Platteville, Wisconsin, with J.R. Siegler, minister, officiating. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City will be serving the family. George was born on September 6, 1935, in Canute, Oklahoma, the son of John and Avo Reba (Wilson) Gunter. He married Darlene R. Speir on January 17, 1959, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He retired from John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works in 1994 after 30 years of service. George was baptized into Christ in 1972 and was a faithful member of the Lord’s church, serving as a minister for the Church of Christ in Platteville, WI from 2008 until the fall of 2015. Survivors include his wife, Darlene; a daughter, Debra (Robert) Taylor, of Belmont; three sons, Neal (Luna) Gunter, of Potosi, Norman Howard Gunter, of Baraboo, and Wesley Scot (Deb) Gunter, of Sterling, Connecticut; a sister, Janet Gunter, of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Jack (Melanie) Gunter, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and three sisters, Bonnie Tripp, Noreen Huffman, and Helen Gunter.
