George W. Mcquade

Cuba City, Wisconsin George W. McQuade, 93, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors accorded. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:00-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home before the service. George was born on November 11, 1921, in Carlyle, Illinois, the son of James W. and Minnie (Neff) McQuade. He served in the military from 1940-1945 and was located in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. On April 25, 1946, he married Helen L. Mitchell in Whitewater, Wisconsin. George received his BS degree from Stout Institute in Menominee Falls and his MS degree from UW-Platteville. In January of 1949 he began teaching industrial education at the Cuba City High School, retiring from there in June of 1984. First and foremost, George was a family man. George also enjoyed fishing, hunting, building homes and traveling the world. He was an avid sports fan following the St. Louis Cardinals since childhood and the Badgers and Packers. For many years George was the recreation director for the Cuba City Summer Youth Program. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #765, the VFW and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Donna (James) Mueller, of Janesville, and Georgia (Howard) Murray, of Cuba City; three sons, James (Mary Jo) McQuade, of Cuba City, Michael (Linda) McQuade, of Janesville, and John (Jane) McQuade, of Cuba City; a sister, Mary Jane (Richard ) Thayer, of Vista, California; a sister-in-law, Shirley McQuade, of Whitewater; a brother-in-law, Merlin Hare, of Whitewater; twelve grandchildren, Michelle Paloucek, Matt, Mitch, Maurie and Mark Mueller, Shaun, Scott and Casey Murray, Kelly Bussan, Jay McQuade, and Kaitlyn and Jenna McQuade; three step-grandchildren, Michelle, Mike and Matt McNett; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Max McQuade; two brothers, James and Maurice McQuade; and three sisters, Bertha Kitzman, Lucille Procknow and Eleanor Jones. A George W. McQuade Memorial Fund has been established.
