Gilbert M. Kunkel

Dickeyville, Wisconsin Gilbert M. Kunkel, 90, formerly of Dickeyville Wisconsin, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City, Wisconsin. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler, Wisconsin, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-10:15 a.m. Friday morning at the Immaculate Conception Church Parish Center in Kieler before the service.. Gilbert was born January 7, 1927, in Kieler, Wisconsin, the son of Charles and Gezena (Dalsing) Kunkel. He married Colleen Hesseling at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville on June 1, 1968. He farmed in the Kieler area for many years, and later owned with his brother, Irenus, and sister-in-law, Rosemary Kunkel, Kunkel Hardware, Plumbing and Heating. He also sold Delaval Milking Equipment. Gilbert loved his fall trips up north for grouse hunting. He also loved to fish and garden. Suvivors besides his wife Colleen, include two sons, Kevin (Michelle) Kunkel, of Pecatonica, Illinois, and Joe Hesseling, Capitan, New Mexico; a daughter-in-law, Rita Hesseling, of Kieler; two brothers, Irenus (Rosemary) Kunkel, of Dickeyville, and Norman (Eunice) Kunkel, of Kieler; four grandchildren, Cory and Tyler Hesseling, and Makenzie and Maddy Kunkel; and six great-grandchildren, Hailey, Madison, Kylie, Taylor, Elizabeth, and Josie. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Hesseling; a sister, Alverna (Orville) Schaefer; and a granddaughter, Kailee Kunkel.
