Benton, Wisconsin Gladys A. Shepherd, 74, of Benton, WI, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City with Pastor Jeffrey A. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home before the service. Gladys was born on June 27, 1937, in Galena, IL, the daughter of Earl E. and Ethel M. (Sanderson) Green. She married Carl J. Shepherd on September 3, 1955, in Galena. Gladys was a singer and musician. She loved to play euchre and crochet. She enjoyed playing games and watching the Packers with her husband Carl. Gladys’ first love was Carl, her children and family. Survivors include her husband, Carl, of Cuba City; two daughters, Jacki (Don) Hardy, of Platteville, and Juli (Melvin) Kopp, of Lancaster; five sons, John (Kathy), of Potosi, Jim, of Salina, KS, Gary, of New Lisbon, Chris, of Red Wing, MN, and Robert (Amanda), of Benton; a brother, Clark (Audrey) Green, of Rockford, IL; five sisters, Dixie (Fred) Fox, of Meridian, ID, Pauline (Jerry) Allendorf, of Galena, IL, Barb (Harold) Douglas, of Darlington, Char (Ron) Edler, of Apple River, IL, and Vidie (Jim) McGillivray, of Cuba City; a special niece, Helen Dasch, of Mason City, IA; three sisters-in-law, Marge, Jerry and Marlene Green; eighteen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Carl Anthony Shepherd in infancy; her in-laws, Orville and Alice Shepherd; five brothers, Chuck, Mark, Russ, Bob and Don Green; and three sisters, Pearl (Wes) Bartell, Irene (Gianni) Cilfone and Alberta Green in infancy. A Gladys A. Shepherd Memorial Fund has been established.
