Ione S. Weckerly

April 4, 1922 — January 25, 2010

Ione S. Weckerly, 87, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Benton Bible Church with Pastor Nelson Perkinson officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Thursday at the church before the service. Ione will be cremated with burial at a later date. Ione was born on April 4, 1922 in Rush Township, Jo Davis County, Illinois, the daughter of Ira and Estella (Darnill) Logemann. She married Robert Weckerly on January 21, 1946. She worked for ten years at Pash’s Drug Store in Warren, Illinois. After moving to Cuba City in the late 1980’s, Ione began volunteering for the Foster Grandparent Program at Benton Elementary School. She absolutely adored working with the children. Ione was a member of the Benton Bible Church. She found her strength in God, and loved going to weekly Bible study. Her faith was evident in all she encountered in her life. She loved music, and particularly loved the Gaithers and anything southern gospel. She loved playing the piano and singing. Whenever her grandchildren came to her house, she always told them that if they wanted to play her piano, they had to sing for her too. Ione treasured moments spent with her great-grandchildren. She loved playing card games with them, especially Crazy Eights, Go Fish, and Old Maid. Ione was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be missed dearly by those who came to know her. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Frazer, of Platteville, Wisconsin; her son, Jess (Christine) Weckerly, of Escalon, California; five grandchildren, Joy (Casey) Thompson, of Cuba City, Elizabeth (Michael) Gallegos, of Modesto, California, Dane, Ashley, and Charles Weckerly, all of Escalon, California; six great-grandchildren, Isaac, Caleb, and Noah Thompson, of Cuba City, and Arianna, McKayla, and Isabella Gallegos, of Modesto, California; three sisters, Lucille Molter, of Camp Verde, Arizona, Joan Goard, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jean Banwarth, of Woodland, California; and a brother, Eldon (Mary Lou) Logemann, of Stockton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Estella Logemann; her husband, Robert Weckerly; three sisters, Mae, Judy, and an infant sister, Jane; and two brothers, Richard and Bruce.
