Cuba City, Wisconsin James "Jim" Bradford Eveland, 85, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cuba City with Pastor Melissa Waterman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call from 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church before the service. Jim was born on December 25, 1929, in Barneveld, Wisconsin, the son of Bradford and Eva (Rongve) Eveland. He married Arlyn Brennum from Dodgeville. She preceded him in death on December 10, 1996. He married Barbara Brooks LaMour on February 8, 1997. Jim graduated from UW-Platteville with a degree in agriculture. He started his career in education teaching agriculture in Gratiot, Wisconsin. Then he moved on to teaching agriculture and coaching at Cassville, Wisconsin. Jim received his masters degree from UW-Madison and went into school administration becoming principal and superintendent at Potosi, Wisconsin, in 1957. In 1968 Jim moved to Cuba City to become superintendent of schools until he retired in 1986. Jim was a lifelong advocate for all areas of education and continued to support his many students long after their graduation. Jim was very active in the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was also a member of the State Superintendent's Association and a devout member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cuba City. He was a loving father and grandfather to his large family and an extremely kind and generous man to everyone. Jim was a long time fan of all sporting activities. He especially loved the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers and the Cuba City Cubans. Jim was a charter member of Cole Acres Country Club and golfed through this past summer. He had many sayings, but probably his most famous was, "See you in the spring." Survivors include his wife, Barb; his children, Alan (Joyce), of Platteville, Greg, of Davenport, IA, Cindy (Ron) Weber, of Cuba City, Michael, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kristi (Tim) Murray, of Waunakee, and Mark (Laura), of Cedar Rapids, IA; his stepchildren, Michelle (Marty) Lange, of East Dubuque, IL, and Jim (Laura) LaMour, of San Marcos, CA; his brothers, Steve (Marilyn), of Ridgeway, and Dean (Donna), of Edgerton; a sister, Norita Williams, of Barneveld; 24 grandchildren, Damian, Coutney (Daryl), Jennifer (John), Nathaniel (Tina), Andrea (Jesse) , Sam, Elizabeth (Louie), Kellie (Joe), Sarah (Tony), Jessica (Sam), Jordan, Dustin (Emily), Beau, Samantha, Bradford, Matthew, Amanda (Jake), Ashley (Patrick), Abbey, Andrea, Andrew, Olivia, Matthew and Lincoln; and 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah Claire, Claudia, Nora, Mitchell, Sydney, Will, Andrew, Evan, Alexander, Will and Rosalyn. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eldon and Keith; and a sister, Carol Shannon. A James "Jim" Bradford Eveland Memorial Fund has been established.
