James E. Mccabe

January 17, 1927 — September 20, 2011

Bagley, Wisconsin James E. McCabe, 84, of Bagley, Wisconsin, formerly of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2011, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Jim was born on January 17, 1927, the son of John and Ruby (Kitto) McCabe. He married Velma Johns on February 10, 1947, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City. She preceded him in death on August 31, 1997. Jim worked at John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works and was a member of UAW Local 94. Jim served in the US Navy and was a member of the Bagley American Legion. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include four sons, John (Janet) McCabe, of Winneconne, Wisconsin, Tom (Tina) McCabe, of Bagley, and Dave (Kathy) McCabe and Steve (Veronica) McCabe, both of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin; a sister, Cheryl (Robert Knopp) Hillary, of Dubuque; a special friend, Essie Kittoe, of Bagley; fourteen grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Susan McCabe; a granddaughter, Jenny Knoll; and three brothers, LeRoy, Harold and Don.
