James H. Haverland

Dickeyville, Wisconsin James H. "Jim" Haverland, 77, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away in his home, with the view of the church that he always loved, as was his wish on Monday, June 16, 2014, with family present. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Francis Steffen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by Reimenapp-Averkamp-Stelpflug VFW Post #6455. Friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Jim was born on September 15, 1936, in Louisburg, Wisconsin, the son of Albert E. and Cecelia T. (Kunkel) Haverland. Jim worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 28 years. One of the things he loved most in life was farming with his brother Gene. Other interests included owning and operating Jim's Corral in Louisburg with his brother Alfie and his wife Cora, operating Haverland's Stone Company, and being a partner in Gerlich Auto Sales. Jim was a Navy veteran who was able to make one of the last honor flights out of Dubuque on May 19th of this year. His hobbies included building toy tractors, lawn figurines and working with nature. He donated time to the Dubuque Arboretum and the Mississippi River Boat Museum. Jim was a loving, caring uncle to his many nieces and nephews, as well as his great nieces and nephews. He had friends and acquaintances too numerous to mention. Jim will be loved and missed by many people. Survivors include a sister, Alvina (Robert) Gerlich, of Hazel Green; a brother, Eugene (Violet) Haverland, of Louisburg; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Cecelia, and three brothers, Jerome, Milford, and Alfred. A James H. "Jim" Haverland Memorial Fund has been established.
