Jean M. Hoyer

July 9, 1933 — August 29, 2013

Benton, Wisconsin Jean Marie (Hocking) Hoyer, 80, of Benton, Wisconsin, died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Services will be 11:00 Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Benton with Rev. Rodney Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home in Benton. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service. Jean was born on July 9, 1933, in Benton, the daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Addison) Hocking. She attended and graduated from Benton Schools. Jean was a member of the United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post 7896. On August 16, 1952, she married the love of her life, Robert Hoyer Sr., at the Benton United Methodist Church. Jean was the mother of six children and enjoyed baking, ceramics, dancing, swimming, but most of all caring for and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors besides her husband, include two daughters, Donna (Kenneth) Harper, of Maple Park, Illinois, and Rhonda (Arnold) McCarthy, of Cuba City; three sons, Robert (Elaine) Hoyer Jr., of Benton, Paul, of Potosi, Wisconsin, and Richard (Sandra) Hoyer, of Cuba City; a sister, Lois Richardson, of Platteville, Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; and her loyal and beloved companion who stayed by her side, "Benny". Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Rita McKelvey; her granddaughter, Sarah McKelvey; a sister, Wilda Richardson; and eight brothers, Alvin, Harold, Joe, Lawrence, Raymond, Robert, Thomas, and David Hocking; sisters-in-law; and brothers-in-law. The family would like to thank Southwest Home Care, especially "caring angels", Sally, Betty and Samantha. We also want to thank Upland Hills Hospice for the loving care and compassion shown to Jean and her family during her extended illness.
