Platteville, Wisconsin Jerry C. "Mud Man" Cassel, 67, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City with Pastor Calvin Hughes officiating. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Jerry was born on October 29, 1947, in El Reno, Oklahoma, the son of Millard and Minnie (Moore) Cassel. He married Rita Green Kieler on May 8, 1998, in Platteville. Due to his work as a dry wall finisher, he became known as "Mud Man." Jerry was an avid golfer and bowler who belonged to many local bowling teams. He and Rita went dancing often. In his earlier years in Oklahoma, he was very active in the Jaycees. Survivors include his wife, Rita, of Platteville; a son, Cary (Pam) Cassel, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor; three stepdaughters, Ann (Jack) Adams, of Saline, Michigan, Beth Kieler, of Urbana, Illinois, and Aleta Kieler, of Middleton, Wisconsin; two stepsons, Victor (Joanne) Kieler, and Ted Kieler, both of Platteville; and four step-grandchildren, Phillip, Jessica, Kianna, and James. He was preceded in death by his parents.
