Dubuque, Iowa John F. Burbach, 79, of 7760 Commerce Park, Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernard Rott and Rev. Francis Steffen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Friday at the church before the service. John was born on September 3, 1932, in Happy Corners, Wisconsin, the son of Carl and Dorothy (Schonhoff) Burbach. He married Jeanine Cross on April 11, 1953, in Dubuque. John served in the US Army from 1954-1956 before returning to the area and operating various service stations, lastly the GULF station on Locust Street. In 1962 John began a career in sales with Lubrication Engineers of Fort Worth, Texas, proudly retiring in 1998. John was a charter member of the Dickeyville Rescue Squad as well as a member of the Dickeyville/Paris Fire Department. John also spent many years as a member of the Cuba City School Board and truly believed in volunteering your time and service to various organizations. John enjoyed "LIFE" whether it be fishing, playing cards, bowling, golfing or just having fun with "the old neighborhood" in Dickeyville and more recently enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanine; four sons, John (Janet), of Cooke City, Montana, Tom (Ivan Holum) of Pacifica, California, Ron (Mia), of Dubuque, and Rob (Julie), of Clayton, Wisconsin; two daughters, Leslie (Randy) Hammond, of Walford, Iowa, and Lynn (Doug) Hamel, of Davenport, Iowa; three brothers, Carl (Mary Ann) and Joe (Shirley), both of Dubuque, and Bill (Wanda), of Johnson City, Tennessee, two sisters, Betty (Bob) Leibfried and Dorothy (Tom) Gibbs, both of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Jim Remington, of Clayton, California; a sister-in-law, Judy Burbach, of Pinehurst, North Carolina; as well as 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald "Pearl" Burbach; a brother, Vince; and a sister, Mary Remington.
