John A. “Toad” McAuliffe, 74, of Benton, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Gratiot, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17 and from 9-10:15 a.m. Friday, April 18 at the funeral home. The family requests you wear casual attire.

John was born on February 7, 1951, in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Francis and Charlotte (Harvey) McAuliffe. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Blackhawk High School. John enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam where he was awarded two Purple Heart medals. John was united in marriage to Judy Pieper on August 26, 1972, at United Methodist Church in Stockton, Illinois.

John worked at John Deere Tractor Works for over 30 years. Together, John and Judy raised their four children. John loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed old time rock music, pull tabs, going to the casino and hanging with his buddies at the “corn crib”. John especially enjoyed working on and driving all types of muscle cars, often taking them out on the back roads. He was an avid sports fan, especially cheering for the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

Survivors include his wife, Judy McAuliffe, Benton, WI; a daughter, Melissa (Ray) Fawcett, Benton, WI; two sons, Todd McAuliffe, Cuba City, WI and Eric (Hillary) McAuliffe, Hazel Green, WI; 11 grandchildren, Jake, Kailey, Kaycie and Jax Fawcett, Miranda, Christopher and Tyson McAuliffe, Nick Leahy, and Macie, Cody and Brooklyn McAuliffe; two sisters, Cathy Mellenberger, Cuba City, WI and Annette (Fred) Vick, Warren, IL; a brother, Tim (Donna) McAuliffe, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and a sister-in-law, Janice McAuliffe, North Liberty, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Matthew “Bushwick” McAuliffe and Joseph McAuliffe in infancy; three grandchildren, Jayson, Jayden and Jamyson Fawcett, all in infancy; two brothers, James McAuliffe and Allan McAuliffe; and two sisters, Mary (Sandy) Paulson and Theresa Mau.

Memorials in John’s name may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
