New Diggings, Wisconsin Johnny D. Rakow, 66, of New Diggings, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, surrounded by his family at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City with Douglas Weaver officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Johnny was born on June 24, 1945, in Tempe, Arizona, the son of Jack and Twilla (Canon) Rakow. He married Linda L. Prine on August 9, 1974. Johnny enjoyed sitting on his country home porch (the Rakow ranch) watching the birds. He enjoyed anything in the great outdoors, especially fishing and riding his Harley, flea markets, antiques, going for rides and visiting family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Linda, “the love of his life”, of New Diggings; six daughters, Melissa Rakow, of New Diggings, Lori (Todd) Gratz, of Linden, Sandee Sue (William) Turner, of Cassville, Debbie (Randy) Priest, of Appleton, Tina Rakow-Amble, of Arena, and Corlisa Rakow, of Spring Green; two sons, John Boy (Patti) Stanton, of Benton, and Merlin “Bud” Rakow, of Black Earth; his mother, Twilla Rakow, of Shullsburg; three sisters, Eleanor Blaine, of Shullsburg, Shirley (special friend, Dave) Clark of New Diggings, and Sandy (Gary) Hittenmiller, of Shullsburg; 24 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Rakow, and his father, John “Jack” Rakow. In lieu of flowers a Johnny Rakow Memorial Fund has been established.
